Dr Jan Yves Remy, PhD (Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies), LL.M. (University of Cambridge), LL.B. (University of the West Indies), is the Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade Law, Policy and Services (SRC) at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. She leads the SRC’s flagship Masters in International Trade Policy (MITP) program and has introduced key outreach initiatives like the SRC Trading Thoughts and Distinguished Owen Seymour Arthur Memorial Lecture.

Dr Remy’s research focuses on international and regional trade dispute settlement, climate change and trade, trade and sustainability, gender in trade, and WTO reform, particularly in the context of small island developing states. She is the WTO Chair at the University of the West Indies and has served as a panelist in WTO disputes. Additionally, Dr. Remy has served on several advisory boards and is a Co-Founder of the Caribbean Women in Trade network.

She is also the Project Director of The Caribbean Shipping Lanes Project and a Co-Lead of the Remaking Global Trade for a Sustainable Future Project in collaboration with Yale University and Tufts University.

Dr Remy’s academic journey includes a PhD from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (summa cum laude), an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, and an LL.B. from the University of the West Indies. She has worked as a Senior Associate at Sidley Austin LLP and as a Legal Officer at the WTO Appellate Body.
