Adv. Matheus Garia is a Project Coordinator for the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL). He holds a Masters Degree from the Geneva Graduate Institute in Switzerland and Law Degree from the University Centre of Brasilia. He has experience with civil and tax law in Brazil. His current area of research focuses on the interaction between trade provisions in trade agreements and environmental agreements and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). He has contributed to book chapters (Investment Agreements and SDGs 13 Climate Action, in Research Handbook on Investment Law and Sustainable Development, Forthcoming), articles (The Impact of EU’s Sustainability Impact Assessment in Promoting Sustainable Development in Free Trade Agreements, European Foreign Affairs Review, Forthcoming) and reports (Evaluating Post-Treaty Options in EU FTAs for Promoting more Ambitious Sustainability Commitments, 2024).
