Prof. Christina Voigt, PhD (Oslo), LLM (Oslo), is a Professor of Law at the University of Oslo and a leading expert in international environmental law. She specialises in climate change law, biodiversity conservation, environmental multilateralism, and sustainability. She chairs the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) and served as co-chair (2019–2024) and current member of the Paris Agreement Implementation and Compliance Committee (PAICC).

Dr. Voigt was Norway’s principal legal advisor in the UN climate negotiations (2009–2018), where she played a key role in drafting the Paris Agreement (2015) and its Rulebook (2018). She has advised UNEP and UNDP and co-drafted the UN Secretary General’s Report on gaps in international environmental law (2018).

She has published widely, including Handbook of Climate Law and Governance (2024) and International Judicial Practice on the Environment (2019). She was a member of the expert panel that drafted the legal definition of “ecocide” as an international crime.

Dr. Voigt serves on the boards of the Rainforest Foundation Norway, the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment, and the International Council for Environmental Law. She is also a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and various editorial boards.
