Professor Claire Fenton-Glynn, LLB (Hons), LLM (University of Cambridge), is a Professor of Law at the University of Monash, Australia, and formerly Professor of Child and Family Law at the University of Cambridge. She was also the Director of Cambridge Family Law.

Professor Fenton-Glynn is an expert in children’s rights, comparative law, and international human rights law. Her research addresses a range of topics, including parenthood (with a focus on international surrogacy), child trafficking, and gender identity. She is the author of “Children’s Rights in Intercountry Adoption”, which won the Inner Temple Book Prize for new authors and the Cambridge Faculty of Law’s Yorke Prize, and “Children and the European Court of Human Rights” (2021, OUP). Her work has been cited by the UK Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Law Commission of England and Wales, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale of Children.

Claire serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Law, Policy, and the Family and is an Academic Fellow of Inner Temple. She has collaborated with several international organisations, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Save the Children, the European Union, and Avocats Sans Frontieres, focusing on child protection, human rights, and the rule of law. Her media contributions include the BBC, New York Times, and Washington Post. She also writes a bi-monthly column in the Family Law Journal and was shortlisted for Commentator of the Year at the 2016 Jordan’s Family Law Awards.
