Prof. Dr. Diane Desierto, BSc (University of the Philippines), JD (University of the Philippines), LLM (Yale Law School), JSD (Yale Law School), is a Professor of Law and Global Affairs at Notre Dame Law School, where she also serves as the Human Rights LLM Faculty Director and Founding Director of the Global Human Rights Clinic. She holds a joint appointment as a tenured full Professor at the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, and an honorary appointment as Professor of International Law and Human Rights at the Philippines Supreme Court’s Judicial Academy.

Prof. Desierto specialises in international law, human rights law, international economic law, maritime security, comparative public law, and ASEAN law. She is a Faculty Fellow at five Notre Dame institutes, including the Klau Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Kellogg Institute of International Studies. Additionally, she is the Co-Chair of the University Thematic Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Co-Principal Investigator of the Notre Dame Reparations Design and Compliance Lab.

Prof. Desierto has authored six books, 70 law review articles, 40 book chapters, and over 80 shorter pieces, and has received fellowships at Humboldt-Berlin, Stanford CASBS, and Max Planck Institute. She is also active in international law disputes and is listed as an arbitrator at the BVIAC. Prof. Desierto’s education includes a summa cum laude BSc in Economics and cum laude JD from the University of the Philippines, and an LLM and JSD with honors from Yale Law School.
