Meredith A. Crowley, PhD (University of Wisconsin-Madison), MS (University of Wisconsin-Madison), MPP (Harvard University), AB (Bowdoin College), is a Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St. John’s College. She also serves as the Research Coordinator at the Janeway Institute at Cambridge. Dr. Crowley is a co-investigator of the publicly funded Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. Additionally, she is a member of the Scientific Advisory Councils of Bruegel, CEPII, and the Kiel Institute.

Her research focuses on international trade, multinational trade agreements, and trade policy, with contributions to top-tier journals such as the American Economic Review, Canadian Journal of Economics, and European Journal of Political Economy. Dr. Crowley frequently appears in global media outlets including the BBC, The New York Times, and the Financial Times.

Before joining Cambridge in 2013, Dr. Crowley worked at the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She has held visiting positions at Georgetown University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Nanjing University, with her work presented at international institutions like the IMF, World Bank, and WTO.

Dr. Crowley holds bachelor’s degrees in Asian studies and chemistry from Bowdoin College, a Master of Public Policy (MPP) in international trade and finance from Harvard University, and both a Master’s and PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
